Zimbabwe CBCA Certification

Since May 16, 2015, all CBCA-controlled products exported to Zimbabwe must undergo product certification before leaving the country. After passing the certification, the CBCA certificate will be obtained, and the customs clearance agency must present the CBCA certificate when the goods arrive in Zimbabwe for customs clearance. If the CBCA certificate is not obtained, the customs will refuse entry.

Application process for CBCA certification for export to Zimbabwe

Step 1: Apply for certification. The exporter needs to submit a certification request.

Required materials include:

1. List, name and price of the exported products, if applicable: mode of transport and insurance amount, importer/exporter details (this is usually included in the pro forma invoice to the importer)

2. Valid compliance documents (such as third-party certification, test reports, analysis reports, manufacturer certificates according to ISO 9001 or other quality standards)

3. Provide product-related location and temporary validity date information for physical inspection before shipment (fill in the Application for Certification (RFC) form).

Step 2: Document review, testing and valuation

All submitted information is reviewed and fully checked against applicable international standards.

Step 3: Verification

- Verify that the actual goods are consistent with the products mentioned in the document review;

- The product is consistent with its import/export documentation description;

- The product complies with applicable standards;

Step 4: Zimbabwe Certificate of Conformity (CBCA)

The inspection report is reviewed based on the documents provided and the estimate is adjusted if necessary. If the evaluation result is satisfactory, a certificate of conformity will be issued; otherwise, a non-conformity report will be issued.

Documents required for customs clearance of exports to Zimbabwe

1. Commercial Invoice

2. Certificate of Origin

3. Bill of Lading

Include detailed description of the goods, name and address of the supplier or manufacturer, time and place of shipment, freight, total FOB value, insurance costs, and ancillary costs.

4. Bill of Lading

The bill of lading generally includes the name of the shipowner, the name and address of the consignee, the designated port, a description of the goods, a list of freight and other charges, the number of the entire bill of lading, and the date and signature of the carrier's shipping receipt.

The above information should be consistent with the relevant information on the bill of lading and packaging. The marking and quantity should be clear.

5. Packing List

All packing lists should include the following: package marking and quantity, net weight and gross weight of each package, and detailed description of each package and its contents.

6. Zimbabwe CBCA certificate

Zimbabwean law requires that all goods exported to Zimbabwe must undergo product certification before leaving the country. After passing the certification, a CBCA certificate is obtained, and the CBCA certificate is required when the goods arrive in Zimbabwe for customs clearance.

Note: For plants and seeds, a health and quarantine certificate is required
