Baby stroller inspection: key points to ensure child safety

As a household essential, the quality and safety of baby strollers are of paramount importance. Their inspections must adhere to strict standards, and each country's regulatory requirements also have different emphases.

Core inspection requirements:

  1. Color matching check: Color matching must comply with the order information requirements.

  2. Product Specifications Check: The specifications of bulk goods must be consistent with engineering technical data and limit samples.

  3. Appearance inspection:

    • Plastic parts: No orange peel, yellowing, delamination, blistering, burning, thick or thin wall, dent or distortion; smooth parting line; bright and uniform surface without impurities, color difference or scratches; no burrs or sharp points.

    • Hardware: No scratches, rust, blistering, delamination, pinholes, cracking or peeling.

    • Pipe fittings: No dents, distortion, deformation, desoldering, welding leakage, bubbles, or uneven welding.

  4. Finished product structure test requirements (key safety items):

    • Brake/detachable parts: Operation is normal without failure.

    • Platform width: Tolerance ±1.0mm.

    • Walking in a straight line: Slide 5 meters on a 10-degree slope with a left-right deviation of ≤0.3 meters (refer to JIS0294).

    • Drop test: Passed the one-point three-line six-sided drop box test.

    • Front wheel lifting test: Execute according to sales area standards and customer requirements.

    • Cart handle strength test (reference GB 14748): Load weights and alternately lift the front and rear wheels 120 mm ± 10 mm at a frequency of 15 ± 2 times per minute for 800 tests (400 tests in each direction for the reversible handlebar, performed under the most unfavorable conditions).

    • Cart impact strength test (reference GB 14748): Load and secure the weight, slide freely down a 10° inclined platform (1 meter away from the block) and hit a rigid block (height ≥ half the wheel diameter), repeat 10 times.

  5. Requirements for rivet assembly of components:

    • The rivet has an inverted edge of 2~3mm, is complete and has no plating delamination; has appropriate tightness and no bends or burrs.

    • The screws are locked in place without burrs; the combination is tightened and the rotation is flexible; the wheel clearance is 1.0~1.5mm.

    • The self-tapping screws are locked tightly and not loose; the stickers are positioned correctly without bubbles, warping or damage.

    • Left and right/directional parts should be assembled according to the operating instructions and limit samples and should not be mixed up or reversed.

    • Parts that require jigs should be able to be easily inserted.

  6. Requirements for platform function inspection:

    • The front and rear wheels can rotate flexibly (the front wheel orientation needs to be firmly engaged).

    • The two locks are firmly locked and will not come off.

    • The reversing handle is flexible in reversing and snaps into place firmly.

    • The brake contact surface is ≥5mm and is firmly engaged and does not come off.

    • Backrest adjustment: can withstand 15kg force without sliding down, and the adjustment is smooth.

    • The footrest is easy to adjust and the front armrest is easy to install and fits securely.

  7. Parasol inspection requirements:

    • The hemming seams are free of foreign matter, broken threads, dirt, skipped stitches, or holes.

    • The closure functions properly (not too tight/loose).

    • The mesh is stretched without any seams.

    • The functional buckle functions normally, without reverse sewing or wrong model usage.

  8. Packaging inspection requirements:

    • The content on the carton mark/sticker is correct, clear and not misplaced.

    • The packaging method complies with engineering technical requirements.

    • The PE bag is perforated with air holes and a warning message is printed on it.

    • A warning sticker is affixed to one side of the platform; warning cloth labels are sewn on the backrest and seat belts.

    • The woven label/LOGO is printed clearly, firmly and in the correct position.

    • The parts (including instruction manual/warranty card) are complete and correctly placed, and match the packaging picture.

    • The packaging box is flat and free of cracks/dirt; the box is sealed smoothly and firmly, and the lid is not easy to fall off.

Safety testing standards for baby strollers in various countries/regions (main categories):

Product Categories China USA European Union Australia/New Zealand
Children's tricycle GB 14747 - - -
baby walker GB 14749 ASTM F977 EN 1273/BS EN 1273 -
Children's wheeled stroller GB 14748 ASTM F833 EN 1888 AS/NZS 2088

illustrate:

  • These standards specify the safety requirements that strollers, walkers, and other child vehicles must meet when sold in the corresponding countries.

  • During inspection, products must be tested according to the applicable standards of the target market (such as structure, strength, stability, materials, warning labels, etc.).
