A Comprehensive Analysis of Inspection and Certification Standards for Leather Goods: A Complete Quality Control Guide from Bags to Belts
Part One: Inspection Standards for Leather Bags (Women's Bags, Men's Bags, Sport Bags)
1. Appearance and Technical Requirements
1.1 Bag Shape and Overall Appearance
The shape should be full, upright, with smooth and natural curves, and the adhesive should be smooth and even.
The corners are symmetrical and there is no bulging at the edges, resulting in a neat and clean appearance.
The materials used for each part are of the same color and have the same texture.
The surface is free from damage, with no obvious stains or black spots, and no coloration.
No obvious scratches, dents or bumps are allowed.
No phenomenon of using edge oil to cover up the defects is allowed.
The brand marking is clear and well-positioned.
The decorative accessories are installed smoothly, firmly and symmetrically, with no obvious visible defects.
2. Hardware Accessories
The colors of the hardware components in all parts should be uniform, and the shapes and colors should be correct.
The hardware is free of rust spots, discoloration, poor electroplating, oxidation or scratches.
The hardware is installed firmly, and the functional accessories must fulfill their intended functions.
3. Zipper
The color and model of the zipper are correct, and there is no misalignment or teeth falling off.
The stitches are neat and straight, with consistent margins.
The arc position is natural, smooth, without wrinkles, and the pulling and closing are smooth.
The color of the zipper fabric matches that of the main material (except for special requirements)
Chain windows and zipper covers have no exposed corners.
4. Oil Rim
The color of the oil rim is basically the same as that of the main ingredient (except for special requirements)
Smooth and flat, without any marks, no glue separation, no overlapping, no overflow, neat and clean
The color of the side oil should match the main ingredient or the additional ingredient (depending on the development design)
The oil edge effect should be smooth, tough, tightly adhering without cracking or peeling.
5. Vehicle lanes
The lanes are neatly arranged, the lines are straight, and the stitches are uniform.
The top and bottom edges should be of the same tightness. The top thread should have a three-dimensional effect.
The needle position at the bottom line must not have any paper white spots.
It is strictly prohibited to have situations such as loose wires, broken wires, excessive rewiring, or balling and knotting.
Thread density: 7-8 stitches per inch
6. Negr (Neri)
The stitching is firm and there are no gaps or loose threads.
The front and back panels as well as the bottom support have an appropriate degree of softness and hardness.
The bottom is flat and even, the adhesive is applied smoothly, and there are no glue marks or creases.
No vehicles shall reverse, stop or break down.
Rib fabric should be clearly distinguished between the front and the back. Within the same bag, there should be no color differences in the rib fabric.
The inner lining of the leather bag and the pouch is snug and cannot be too large or too small.
The opening of the inner pocket (mobile phone pocket, business communication pocket) should be reinforced with stitching to prevent it from bursting open.
The light-colored fabric must not show any traces of glue or other impurities.
7. Inner Packing
Clear graphics, the metal stamping label is placed correctly
II. Requirements for the functional and load-bearing parts
Hardware function: All hardware should remain intact and not fall off under normal usage conditions, and the functions should operate normally.
Zipper function: The zipper slides smoothly when being pulled, and the pull tab and loop are firmly attached.
Closure function: The magnetic force of the closure is sufficient. After repeated opening and closing tests, there were no abnormalities.
Strengthening of stressed areas:
The connection points such as shoulder straps, handles, back straps, ear clips, business pockets, pocket openings, inner chain windows, etc., as well as other stressed areas, need to be reinforced with additional stitching.
The stressed area should be reinforced with high-quality reinforcing materials.
Load-bearing capacity:
Backpacks and tote bags of 300mm and 400mm and above specifications, with the carrying weights being 4kg and 5kg respectively.
Under normal use, the handles, straps, hooks, earpieces will not come off or break, and the package body will not deform or crack.
Testing method: Pull with force. If there is any breakage, it is considered unqualified.
When a problem is identified, the quality inspector or the developer should work with the factory technicians to resolve it, and the production supervisor should sign to confirm.
Edge bone: The edge bone bag must not have any broken bones or bone-eating phenomena; the edge bag needs to pay attention to whether the bag opening is cracked and whether the edge finishing is neatly trimmed.
III. Testing Methods
Item Method
Specification Measure with a ruler, with the smallest division being 1 millimeter
Sight inspection Under natural light, select a visible viewing distance and conduct the inspection through the senses
Sampling judgment If the pass rate is ≥ 90%, it is judged as qualified; if < 90%, double re-inspection is conducted; if again < 90%, it is judged as unqualified
Load test When pulled with force and there is no breakage, it is considered qualified
Note: Any defect that affects the basic usage function of the product is classified as an unqualified product.
Part Two: Wallet Inspection Standards
1. Compliance Requirements
The leather, color, texture and specifications must match the original version.
The hardware accessories are exactly the same as the original version (except for special instructions).
II. Appearance Quality and Technical Requirements
Item Standard
Leather Surface Flat, uniform color, no color fading, no severe cracks
Voltage LOGO Clear, upright, symmetrical corners, smooth and natural adhesion
Stitched Lines Bright, consistent width, straight edge, no obvious bulges
Machine Lines Clear and straight lines, consistent tension of surface and base line, uniform density; must not be crooked, no loose stitches, floating lines, or double needle holes on exposed parts
Edge Wrapping Flat, consistent width, square corners without warping, round corners round and smooth, firmly bonded, no glue peeling

During the factory inspection, leather goods suppliers need to focus on assessing:
Source of leather materials and environmental certification (such as traceability of genuine leather, non-endangered animal products)
Hardware electroplating process and corrosion resistance test records
Quality Control and Inspection Records for Sewing Process
Adhesion and Durability Tests for Oil-Blistering Process
Load-bearing testing equipment and personnel operation specifications
Qualifications and Training of Inspectors
II. Product Certification Requirements
For leather goods products to enter different markets, they must comply with the corresponding certification standards:
Target market Certification requirements Inspection focus
Chinese market GB 20400 "Limits of Hazardous Substances in Leather and Fur" Formaldehyde, azo dyes content
European market REACH regulations, LFGB (leather for contact with food) Hexavalent chromium, nickel release, prohibited azo
American market CA Prop 65 Pb, phthalates
During inspection, it is necessary to verify the consistency between the product label and the certification certificate.
III. Continuous Improvement
Quality issues identified during inspection should be promptly reported to the supplier.
Repetitive issues need to be followed up and rectified through factory inspections.
Establish a quality traceability record to support product certification audits
